2010 Mustang Unleashed Session - Click above to watch the video after the break
Though we all owned skateboards in our younger years, we can admit that we were never really any good at riding them. That doesn't mean we didn't fantasize about all the great stunts we
wished we could perform. And were there any among us who don't remember sitting in the back seat of a car watching the scenery go by at speed and thinking of all the sweet jumps and flips cars should be able to do?
Filmmaker Jeff Richter undoubtedly has such memories, and Ford was kind enough to let him unleash those inner fantasies with a brand-spanking-new 2010 Mustang. Also along for the ride are street skater Pat Duffy and X-Games gold medalist Jake Brown. A quick blip pops up at the start of the film letting the watcher know that some of the scenes are real and others are computer generated... we don't think you'll have too much trouble distinguishing one from the other.

Our sleuthing colleagues over at The Truth About Cars have dissected electric car maker
Zap's latest 10-Q filing, and they unearthed the following little tidbit:
"The decrease of $1.5 million (in revenue)
is primarily due to the phase out of our three wheeled Xebra vehicle with reduced selling prices."
We can't say that we're particularly shocked that Zap has found it difficult to continue moving its little three-wheeled Xebra contraption, especially with discretionary spending money in such short supply these days and reasonably-priced hybrids flooding the used car market. Perhaps even more damning for Zap, though, is the admission that it is doing "less work on the development of the
Alias prototype vehicle."
Whatever the future has in store for Zap in 2010 and beyond, one thing is for sure: there will be no shortage of press releases to let us all know what's (supposedly) going on behind closed doors.

Tata Nano – Click above for high-res image gallery
Once
again, Tata chairman Ratan Tata has confirmed via the South Korean
Maeil Business Newspaper that his company intends to launch a hybrid version of the Nano. While it's impossible to know for sure, we'd imagine that starting off with the World's Least Expensive Automobile may very well equal the World's Least Expensive Hybrid.
We're also unsure what kind of hybrid system Tata is developing – we wouldn't expect to see a full hybrid system with an electric motor and battery pack large enough to power the vehicle for long periods of time, but we'd still hope for something more substantial than a simple stop/start micro system.
Previous reports indicate that a
diesel engine is also in the works for the Nano, and we have high hopes that the inexpensive machine will make its way in somewhat modified form
to the United States. Even with its current drivetrain, the gas-powered Nano delivers well over 50 U.S. miles per gallon, which would surely make for a welcome option here in America.

Cambodia is known for a few things – such as the amazing ancient ruins in Angkor Wat and an over-abundance of scooters and three-wheeled Tuk Tuks – but a real-life automobile industry is most definitely not one of them. Not yet, at least. While current transportation choices are mostly imported from Vietnam and Thailand, there's apparently a growing desire in Cambodia for a homegrown automobile.
In fact, a number of individual Cambodians have taken it upon themselves to jump start the nascent auto industry by creating their very own DIY cars... even ones that supposedly respond to telepathic commands. According to Nhean Phaloek, a 51-year-old Cambodian who just built his Angkor 333-2010 (at right), "I just snap my fingers and the car's door will open. Or I just think of opening the car's door, and the door opens immediately."
While we're not quite ready to buy the thought-control bit, building your very own two-seat convertible for $5,000 that can hit speeds of about 62 miles per hour is itself an accomplishment to be proud of.
Thanks for the tip, Adrián!

1969 Danz Camaro concept - Click above for high-res image gallery
There's really nothing wrong with the first-generation Chevy Camaro, except perhaps for the fact that rows upon rows of them can be seen at every single car show in America. In fact, so ubiquitous is the 1969 model that there are a couple of aftermarket companies willing to build you a brand new example from the ground up utilizing just about zero OEM bits or pieces.
This being the case, it's hardly surprising that this is the model year The General chose to mimic with its new fifth-gen Camaro for 2010. But what would happen if you could somehow jump to-and-fro through the time/space continuum in your Mr. Fusion-equipped DeLorean time machine and transport yourself back to '69 with visions of the 2010 model in your head?
Answering that question-that-nobody-asked is the 1969 Danz Camaro SS concept car, which you can see in the high-res image gallery below. Words cannot describe the initial reaction we had when opening this sucker up in our browsers for the first time, so we'll just say that we hope its creator kept the original pieces in the garage when it comes time to sell. Yikes!

Maybe consider taking the bus? - Click above to watch the video after the jump
Being the type of people who obsessively cover the auto industry, we generally prefer four-wheeled travel to pedal-for-yourself bicycling. Not that riding a bike is a bad thing... quite the opposite, actually. Getting out, seeing the sights and smelling the fresh air away from the hustle and bustle of the city is a great way to spend some free time and maybe put a dent in the ol' blogger spare tire.
That said, if we've got somewhere to be, like, say, meeting up with some old Italian friends at the local wine bar, we'd certainly opt for the car. After watching the video after the break, though, we wonder if it would be a safer bet to just hop on the bus. Guess it depends on your chosen occupation, eh?

2010 KTM 690 Duke R - Click above for high-res image gallery
We'll be honest and say right off the bat that we have a soft spot for KTM. This particular blogger's first real two-wheeler was an old KTM 125 two-stroke that ate piston rings for breakfast, lunch and dinner... but boy was it fast! More recently, the traditionally off-road-focused Austrian marque has made a renewed plans to enter the U.S. market with an exciting line of streetbikes, and that's reportedly set to continue in full force for 2010.
According to the boys at Hell For Leather, KTM plans to
bring its entire line of motorcycles Stateside, and that includes the 990 Adventure R, Super Duke R, SMT and SMR along with the RC8 R superbike (finally!) and the full line of single-cylinder 690s. Speaking of which, also new for 2010 is the
2010 690 Duke R that gets firmer suspenders, a bespoke paint scheme and carbon fiber fender and, most importantly, an enlarged engine with 70 horsepower and 51 lb-ft of torque. Hit the jump for a detailed PDF file that contains KTM's full line.

Nowadays, being politically correct is of the utmost importance to companies the world over, and that includes automakers. Especially Volkswagen, apparently. Judging from the commercial pasted after the break, the German automaker – which just happens to have recently
earned the title of World's Largest Automaker – wants you to know that everyone loves it cars, regardless of age, sex, race or color.
Volkswagen is also accepting of any sexual preference, and it doesn't care if you are right- or left-handed. Do you like to drive fast? Slow? It doesn't matter – the Volkswagen New Beetle is the perfect car for you. Or something like that.

Serious automotive testing - Click above to watch the video after the break
These days, cars and trucks need to pass a slew of strict testing procedures before they can be certified for sale. Included among these procedures are tests for safety, emissions, performance and reliability. Though they're surely a hassle for automakers and one reason it's so difficult to bring a new model to market, these tests are also why today's cars are better than they've ever been before.
Apparently, things are done a little differently in Europe. While we might have guessed that today's Funny Car Commercial was made by Citroen – quite possibly the quirkiest automaker in existence – the advertisement is actually from French automaker Renault. Though the ad says it's "99% Serious," we kinda think they've got it backwards.
